In an age of constant notifications, our attention spans are shrinking. The Pomodoro Technique works because it turns time into an ally rather than an enemy. By working in 25-minute bursts, you create a sense of urgency that forces your brain to ignore distractions.
This method prevents "cognitive boredom." Just when your brain starts to get tired or bored of a task, the timer rings, and you get a break. This cycle keeps your mental energy high for hours.
Put your phone in another room. Close all browser tabs except this one. Use our "Zen Mode" to black out the rest of the interface.
If you don't feel like working, tell yourself you will only do one Pomodoro (25 mins). Usually, once you start, the resistance fades away.
When the 5-minute break starts, actually take a break. Do not check emails. Stand up, stretch, look at distant objects to relax your eyes.
